How to arrive in Erlangen

Erlangen with its approximately 112,000 inhabitants is situated in the district of Central Franconia in Bavaria, only 15 kilometers from the neighboring cities of Nuremberg and Fuerth. The centres of Frankfurt/ Main, Munich and Stuttgart are about 200 kilometres away. It is roughly 300 kilometres to Prague (CZ) and 450 kilometres to Berlin. Erlangen is optimally placed within the European transport system by its link with the A3, A9 and A73 motorways for those travelling by car or bus, and travelling to the Huguenot town by train is simple and convenient. Erlangen has a railway station and is a stopping point on the InterCity-Express (ICE) line between Munich and Berlin. Nuremberg Airport is only 10 kilometres away and offers flights between many European centres and plenty of other destinations. By the Rhine-Main-Danube-Canal, Erlangen harbor is connected to the European waterways system.

Erlangen is conveniently located at two federal motorways: The A73 Nuremberg – Erfurt and the A3 Frankfurt – Passau. The A3 and the A9 Munich – Berlin intersect in southeast Nuremberg. Both autobahns feed in slightly further south to the A6 Stuttgart – Prague.
